Welcome to episode 191 of The PE Umbrella podcast, the ONLY dedicated Primary PE Podcast in the world!
Joining me Under the Umbrella this week is an Elementary Physical Education teacher known as The PE Specialist, Ben Landers. If you’re reading this and have spent some time in the online PE space, then I’m certain that you know/have come across Ben before. He has been sharing content and flying the PE flag for well over 6 years now through his excellent website and was one of my first guests on the PE Umbrella back in episode 26 (early 2016!).
Since then, much has changed for the two of us both personally and professionally. For a start, we both have more children of our own keeping us busy at home but from a professional standpoint, we have both grown massively. I think if you listen to even a snippet of that first episode it will become very apparent, very quickly!
I have been waiting for the time to have Ben back on the show to really dive in to see what has changed with him on a professional level and to check in with how he currently finds the Physed landscape. With that said, we have a wonderful, relaxed chat in which Ben really opens up about his current thoughts, shares some personal experiences and what his hopes are moving forward. Some of our talking points include:
– What currently excites you in the PE world?
– What is your ideal PE lesson recipe?
– What was the worst lesson you ever taught and why?
– A PE resource you couldn’t live without?
– Separating organisation & instruction
– Putting a positive spin on things
Wherever you are in the world, this is an episode I know you will enjoy and gain a lot from listening to. Just look at Ben in action in the video below and you will know exactly why he’s on the show! Check out his full ‘Teaching Tips’ series over on Youtube too!
