Welcome to episode 205 of The PE Umbrella podcast, the ONLY dedicated Primary PE Podcast in the world!
Joining me Under the Umbrella this week is the director and founder of Totally Runable Natalie Jackson. I first met Natalie at a conference organised by YSF before the coronavirus pandemic really kicked off in early 2020. I attended her workshop about the gender sport gap in primary schools and at the time I remember been blown away by some of the statistics and figures she shared. It’s no secret that gender stereotypes are still firmly rooted in aspects of our society and they still creep in even if we don’t intend for them to! Even Peppa Pig is littered with them!
During this episode, we get to dig a little deeper into the gender sport gap and uncover what this actually looks like in a school setting, how it manifests and what we can do about it ourselves. Natalie also tells us about the excellent work she does at Totally Runable to support schools on this journey as we hopefully move ever closer to a world where gender stereotypes don’t exist and the sport gender gap is no more!
So what are you waiting for? Grab your note pad(s) and a pen, then come and join us Under the PE Umbrella.
