“We can be the best that we can be, so the children can grow up into the best adults that they can be for generations to come”
Hello and welcome to the home of The PE Umbrella podcast and blog, the only podcast that is dedicated to ALL things Primary and Elementary Physical Education! For this 40th episode, I embark on my second of three podcast releases this week in my mini reflection series called ‘8 Minute Musings’
For this episode, I reflect on a recent twitter poll that I conducted that was simply titled,
“Primary Teachers, do you look forward to and enjoy teaching PE?”
The results are equally intriguing and concerning, and I unpick the feedback from the poll in this episode. I voice my opinions on the breakdown of results and where we could perhaps go next. Most importantly, I want this episode to spark a response from YOU, the PE Umbrella community and I’d love to hear your own views on the finding from this poll.
One would think that because my twitter following is predominantly ‘PE enthusiasts’ that would sway the voting and outcomes to be biased. If that was the case, then I am still mildly shocked by the findings, and if anything, it fuels my desire to continue striving to improve the quality of primary physical education in Harrogate, Yorkshire and across the country. You never know, perhaps one day Physical Education will have a rightful place as a daily curriculum subject, and if i can play a small part in that, I’d be over the moon!
I hope you enjoy this 8 Minute Musing and as always, I would love to hear about your own thoughts on this poll and the implications it has. Simply tweet @ryansporting or drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to share your thoughts.
