“You would not go to the local bookie and get the bookmaker to come in and teach the children on probability…”
Welcome to episode 139 of The PE Umbrella podcast!
Joining me Under the Umbrella this week is the CEO for the AfPE, Sue Wilkinson! Leading the charge for the improvement in quality of PE, School Sport & Physical Activity for the AfPE, Sue can be regularly found keynoting and speaking around the country, but this week she found herself with me under the umbrella. If you’d have said to me a year ago that I’d be interviewing somebody from the AfPE on the show, let alone Sue, I would have laughed it off. Not because I didn’t think they were beyond me, but the AfPE for the longest time had blocked me on Twitter and I had no way of really contacting them. To this day I still have no idea why they blocked me (must be my big mouth saying something silly?), but only a couple of months ago, to my surprise, I found they had unblocked me! Not only that, but they now follow me so I’m doubly delighted. Fast forward some interesting phone conversations with Sue and I’m delighted that I finally welcomed her onto the show.
Did I manage to ask everything I wanted to? No. If I’m honest, I could have chatted with Sue for 6 hours and still not got through everything. What we did do though was provide a quick stop tour on many things Primary PE. From premium spend to whole-school approaches to who really ‘is’ best positioned to deliver our favourite subject. At least it leaves the door slightly ajar for a sequel!
As expected, Sue was on top form and we had brilliant fun recording, so what are you waiting for? Come on over and join us Under the PE Umbrella.
Don’t forget to subscribe to The PE Umbrella on iTunes or Stitcher radio by following the links above. I would love for you to rate and review the show there, giving me insight into what I can do to further improve the quality of the show for you! Until next time though, have a great week motivating, engaging and inspiring the children that you teach, and I’ll see you soon, ‘Under the Umbrella’
