“Without health, there is no education…”
Welcome to episode 129 of The PE Umbrella Podcast, the only primary PE podcast in the world.
This week it brings me great pleasure welcoming the schools’ director from the Youth Sport Trust onto the show, Stuart Kay. As a former teacher, Stuart learned his trade teaching English to High School students before becoming a senior leader in school, including a role as an acting head. With that in mind, Stuart is able to look into our ‘PE bubble’ and give a fresh perspective on how the land lays. With that said, he has always advocated an active curriculum and was always a big champion of moving and learning in his own English lessons. It is this underlying passion that ultimately led Stuart to his current role at the YST.
The bulk of our conversation this week revolves around what a whole school approach for PE, School Sport and PA actually is, and how we can begin to create greater buy-in for all staff. Ultimately, having PE and PA at the centre of school culture is a job for ALL stakeholders, from teachers, parents, students, supervisors, TA’s and more. Without the support of everybody, the likelihood of success, in my opinion, is slim, given the increasing stack of work that many PE co-ordinators already have as class teachers.
So what are you waiting for? Come and join us Under the Umbrella and get involved in the conversation! I’d love to hear your thoughts on anything we discuss in this episode so be sure to email me at email@example.com or tweet me @thepeumbrella.
