Welcome to episode 169 of The PE Umbrella podcast, the ONLY dedicated Primary PE Podcast in the world!
Joining me Under the Umbrella this week I have two excellent guests in former teacher and running mogul Martin Yelling as well as repeat guest Victoria Randall. During this episode, I had the pleasure of exploring ‘Stormbreak’ and the concept of Mentally Healthy Movement as a means to improve the mental health of children across the country and giving them the tools required to manage their emotions through movement. We are at a tipping point with regards to physical and mental health all over the world, for both children and adults on the back of the Covid-19 pandemic and it’s essential that whatever we do from here, we get it right. Add to this the research that suggests 8% of 5-10-Year-olds have a diagnosed Mental Health disorder, then we must take action!
During this episode, we speak about:
– How COVID-19 has impacted activity levels
– How movement contributes to positive Mental Health?
– How can movement contribute towards developing emotional & physical life skills?
– What is Stormbreak?
All of that plus several rabbit holes that we debate back and forth! So what are you waiting for? Come on over and join us Under the PE Umbrella.

This summer to help families and primary school-aged children in response to Covid-19 to develop mental and emotional well-being skills in resilience, relationships, self-worth, self-care and hope and optimism stormbreak are inviting schools, children, families and trusted adults to take part in the “stormbreak summer challenge”.
