“10,000 hours of extra physical activity across the whole school!”
“50 children dancing away and loving their life!”
Welcome back PE Umbrella community! We are starting 2016 off with a bang and another interview episode that is filled with knowledge bombs and useful advice for primary school teachers and PE enthusiasts!
I chat with David Bamber, a practising lead PE teacher in a Devon Primary School and founder of Primary Energise. We delve into his day to day job to chat ALL things Primary PE including his top tips, favourite resources and how Primary Energise is impacting on children in his school and beyond!
David provides high quality advice that is sure to have YOU fired up to try in YOUR school! Be sure to visit the Primary Energise website to check out their wonderful resource and to find out how you can sign up and set a new daily classroom routine for 2016! So what are you waiting for? Click play right here or subscribe to the PE Umbrella on iTunes to listen at your own leisure whenever you choose.
What I Learned: With the funding that Primary Schools have and still are receiving, we as teachers, have a duty to now be making positive strides and making a difference to the quality physical education and physical activity opportunities we provide for our children. We need to be pro-active about targeting individuals (As Dave did with his surveys) and then provide a solution to their needs. If there is ever a time for this it is now, especially with the funding still in place! With the current state of inactivity and ever growing popularity of ‘screen culture’, PE and getting children active is more important than ever.
