Welcome to The PE Umbrella Podcast episode 86, and thank you once again for giving up your time to join me on the ONLY Primary and Elementary Physed Podcast in the world!
As I jump back in the saddle after some much needed time off and a hectic start to the school year, I am delighted to be sharing with you how I started my school year with Lesson 1. For the first time ever I started the year with a classroom based session in order to set out my expectations and more importantly the ‘WHY’ behind my PE classes this year. I was inspired last year after reading a blog post by Joey Feith titled ‘Max Your Days Mural‘. The post itself really resonated with me and I loved the idea of living as many adventures as possible in your life time. I thought it would be a great way to start a school year and so made a note and let it simmer away until the new school year.
The concept of the Adventure Pyramid (Find it HERE) was used to structure my classroom based session with plenty of discussion around the North Face Video shown below…
One of the co-operative activities or (Brain Spark) activities I used to break my session up can be found below, simply titled ‘1,2,3’.
Don’t forget to subscribe to The PE Umbrella on iTunes or Stitcher radio by following the links above. I would love for you to rate and review the show there, giving me thoughts as to what I can do to further improve the quality of the show for you! Until next time though, have an awesome week motivating, engaging and inspiring the children that you teach, and I’ll see you next time, ‘Under the PE Umbrella’.
